What do i do if i need to start bringing my child to the dentist?
October 15, 2022
Things you can do to prepare for your child’s first dental visit:
- Bring a complete health history with meds & allergies, and physician's contact info
- Be prepared with any questions or concerns you may have This can include: brushing and flossing, diet, soother and grinding habits, injury prevention
- Stay positive and don't feel the need to explain things ahead of time We take 1 step at a time and will explain things in ways that your child can understand and appreciate.
It is recommended that you bring your child for their visit by 2 years of age. At BDSC we maintain healthy smiles from childhood to adulthood.
GOALS OF THE FIRST VISIT:
Create positive experiences
Your child will learn that routine visits help to prevent problems and the visit will allow them to feel comfortable in the dental chair. The goal is to establish a familiar dental home for your child. At BSDC, everyone is trained with the proper techniques to ensure your child has a good experience.
Oral hygiene tips
You can find out if your at home brushing routine is effective and tips to improve. This will also give you a chance to get your questions answered about your child’s oral health.
Fewer cavities
This allows for your dentist to detect any problems in the early stages and provide the appropriate care.
At BDSC we understand the importance of preventive care and put a strong focus on dentistry that is welcoming, fun, and educational for your family. See you soon!
