Dental Implants
What is an implant?
Implants are a piece of titanium that are placed in your jawbone so that you can have teeth replaced. They are also a solution for uncomfortable or loose dentures. With proper care, implants can last a very long time.
Implant Options
- Replaces 1 tooth
- Replace multiple neighbouring teeth
- Support a denture to make it more comfortable and secure
What is the procedure like?
Typically, local anesthesia ("usual freezing") is used and the procedure can take as little as 30 minutes depending on the number of implants being placed.
Normally, you will be able to return to work the next day unless instructed otherwise. You may be prescribed medication to maintain comfort during the healing process.
Benefits
- Replaces missing teeth
- Maintains bone levels
- Maintains a youthful appearance
- Restores your smile
- Low maintenance and long-term value
Did you know that even the loss of one tooth might result in movement of neighbouring or opposing teeth? The loss of several teeth can not only affect your inability to chew and speak, but cause increased stress on jaw joints and facial muscles when your bite is collapsed. It can also result in an older facial appearance and noticeable facial lines due to a reduction in the vertical dimension of your face.
